Event Highlights: Launch of the Spanish Edition of NORRAG Special Issue 06 “States of Emergency: Education in the Time of COVID-19”

The Spanish Edition of NSI 06, prepared by Felicitas Acosta, Researcher and Professor of Comparative and History of Education at National University of General Sarmiento, Argentina, Regional Editor of NSI and NORRAG’s Regional Coordinator for Spanish speaking Latin American countries, was launched on 2 February. It includes two original articles written by authors located in Chile and Argentina, in addition to translations of 12 articles from the original NSI 06 that are of close relevance to the Latin American context, representing insights from several countries.

The event was attended by 40 Spanish and Portuguese speaking participants mainly from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Peru, and Uruguay. The event featured five guest speakers who commented on NSI 06 and presented research on education during the pandemic, enriching the content produced by NORRAG. We counted with the presence of Pablo Cevallos Estarellas, director of the IIEP UNESCO regional office for Latin America, Daniela Trucco, senior official from the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), Zaira Navarrete Cazales, professor Universidad Nacional Autonóma de México and Honorary President of the Mexican Society of Comparative Education, Joseph Levitan from McGill University and Oscar Graizer, researcher and professor Universidad Nacional de General Sarmiento.

Also at the launch event, the NORRAG Social network was presented to the audience; participants were invited to join the network and connect to education experts and researchers from different countries.

Lanzamiento de la edición en español de NSI 06

La edición en español de NSI 06, preparada por Felicitas Acosta, Investigadora y Profesora de Educación Comparada e Historia de la Educación en la Universidad Nacional de General Sarmiento, Argentina, Editora Regional de NSI y Coordinadora Regional de NORRAG para los países latinoamericanos de habla hispana, fue lanzada el 2 de febrero. Incluye dos artículos originales escritos por autores ubicados en Chile y Argentina, además de traducciones de 12 artículos del NSI 06 original de estrecha relevancia para el contexto latinoamericano, representando percepciones de varios países.

Asistieron 40 participantes de habla hispana y portuguesa, principalmente de Argentina, Brasil, Chile, México, Perú y Uruguay. El evento contó con la participación de cinco expositores invitados quienes comentaron sobre el NSI y presentaron investigaciones sobre la educación durante la pandemia enriqueciendo así el contenido elaborado desde NORRAG. Contamos con la presencia de Pablo Cevallos Estarellas, director de la Oficina Regional para América Latina de IIPE UNESCO, Daniela Trucco, oficial senior de la Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe (CEPAL), Zaira Navarrete Cazales, profesora Universidad Nacional Autonóma de México y Presidente Honoraria de la Sociedad Mexicana de Educación Comparada, Joseph Levitan de la Universidad McGill y Oscar Graizer, investigador y profesor Universidad Nacional de General Sarmiento.

Durante el evento también se presentó la red social NORRAG y se invitó a los participantes a unirse a ella y ponerse en contacto con expertos e investigadores en educación de distintos países.
