23.06.2020: Swiss Launch of the Global Monitoring Report on Education "Inclusion and Education: All means all"

The 2020 Global Education Monitoring (GEM) Report: “Inclusion and Education: All means all” is launched on Tuesday 23 June 2020.

The fourth in the GEM Report series looks at social, economic and cultural mechanisms that discriminate against disadvantaged children, youth and adults, keeping them out of education or marginalized in it. Spurred by their commitment to fulfil the right to inclusive education by 2030, countries are expanding their vision of inclusion in education to put diversity at the core of their systems. Yet implementation of well-meaning laws and policies often falters. Released at the start of the decade of action, and in the middle of the Covid-19 crisis, which has exacerbated underlying inequalities, the Report argues that resistance to addressing every learner’s needs is a real threat to achieving global education targets. This report calls on countries to widen the understanding of inclusive education to include all learners.

The report is available here.

A launch event for the Report will take place on Tuesday 30 June, 15:00 – 17:00. The launch in Switzerland will provide an opportunity to review the challenges of inclusion in education in the context of international cooperation as well as in the Swiss education system. The impact and lessons of the Covid-19 crisis on inclusion in education will also be discussed during the presentation. In view of the conditions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic the event will exceptionally take place virtually. More information about this will follow.
