In July 2020 and May 2021, NORRAG supported the Futures of Education project by organising two consultations with experts in Education in Emergencies, as part of the project’s second track: to engage in public dialogue and debate with multiple stakeholders at global, regional and national levels to enrich the process of developing the report.

The Futures of Education initiative chaired by the President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, H.E. Sahle-Work Zewde, an International Commission of thought-leaders from the worlds of politics, academia, the arts, science, business, and education, undertook a broad, inclusive global engagement effort involving educators, youth, researchers, governments, business and civil society.

Drawing on these extensive consultations, the International Commission prepared a Report that will be the third in a series of UNESCO global reports on the future of education. The Commission’s Report, Reimagining Our Futures Together: A New Social Contract for Education, was officially launched at UNESCO’s 41st General Conference.

This launch event presented the key ideas and recommendations of the new flagship report to Member States, and called the global education community and UNESCO strategic partners into action on the Futures of Education.
