Transforming Evidence Network (TEN) Learning Session - March
Please join us for the next Transforming Evidence Network (TEN) monthly learning session on Tuesday, March 11th from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. EDT (2:00-3:00 p.m. UK / 3:00-4:00 p.m. CET / 4:00-5:00 p.m. SAST).
In this session, we will discuss insights, promising practices, and persisting challenges around knowledge brokering.
The Global Partnership for Education Knowledge and Innovation Exchange (GPE KIX), supported by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), is an initiative working to ensure countries around the world have and use evidence to accelerate positive learning outcomes through education systems. The design of the initiative is unique, integrating principles and practices for knowledge brokering into its two interconnected parts: regional hubs (to facilitate inter-country learning exchange) and applied research projects (that give balanced and simultaneous attention to generating new knowledge and supporting its use).
Insights from the initiative were recently summarized in a chapter of a new book: The Rise of Knowledge Brokers in Global Education Governance. In the chapter, Tricia Wind, program leader, and Margarita Lopez, senior program specialist, from GPE KIX, surface the principles and practices that have been informing GPE KIX programming and include thoughts on the role of funders in supporting knowledge brokering.
We will begin this TEN learning session with brief presentations from GPE, IDRC, and other partners implementing the initiative, and who represent diverse perspectives. Lessons shared will draw on the GPE KIX experience supporting applied research and facilitating exchanges between countries to scale the impact of inclusive innovations in 90 low-and-middle income countries.
An open discussion will follow using the following guiding questions:
- How can initiatives be designed and supported to ensure that multiple forms of knowledge are produced and used to advance equitable development?
- What do funders and leaders from other sectors interested in supporting knowledge brokering need to consider?
TEN is a global, cross-sector platform for researchers, practitioners, policy experts, intermediaries, funders, and others working to connect evidence, policy, and practice in more effective and equitable ways. We are hosting these virtual learning sessions to strengthen connections within this wide-ranging community, including by sharing promising practices, programs, and resources, as well as common challenges and needs.
