Event Highlights: Innovative Approaches to Conflict Transformation and Refugee Support Conference

On 19- 20 September 2024, the KIX EMAP Hub partnered with the “Innovative Approaches to Conflict Transformation and Refugee Assistance Conference,” hosted by the Free International University of Moldova (ULIM) in Chișinău, Moldova. This event, funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), gathered experts and contributors from Germany, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova and Ukraine.

The conference opened with welcoming remarks by Mrs. Ludmila Pavlov, Secretary General of the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova, and Mrs. Flore Rossi, Child Protection Specialist at UNICEF Moldova. The keynote speech, “Navigating Digital Conflicts: Perspectives from Germany, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, and Ukraine,” was delivered by Professor Alexander Redlich (University of Hamburg) and Julia Levin (University of Hamburg and KIX EMAP Knowledge Lead).

Throughout the conference, various contributors shared their expertise, including Diana Miron from UNICEF Moldova, Daniela Sîmboteanu from the National Center for Child Abuse Prevention, and Elena Madan and Teodora Rebeja from Terre des Hommes Moldova. Their discussions focused on humanitarian strategies and educational initiatives designed to combat online aggression and support refugees and communities affected by conflict.

Overall, the conference facilitated a rich exchange of ideas and best practices, promoting interdisciplinary and international collaboration in conflict transformation and refugee support. Moreover, it served as a valuable platform for establishing new research opportunities and academic partnerships in these critical areas.
