American Institutes for Research (AIR), Washington DC

As part of the Programme of Work on Urban Violence, Youth and Education, NORRAG signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the American Institutes for Research in order which initiated the first phase of the collaborative project on Educational Strategies for Dealing with Urban Violence (ESDUV), in partnership with Igarapé Institute (Rio de Janeiro). The first phase (2014-2015) was intended to test the proof of concept of a collaborative approach to mapping and assessing education interventions – both formal and non-formal - to prevent and reduce violence in Brazil and South Africa.

Based on the results and the common evaluation of phase 1 of the project, continued collaboration for the next phases of the project will be defined and specified.
